EuroChemi, a supplier of cleaning and maintenance products specifically developed for the rail industry, provides a range of environmentally friendly and effective products that are independently tested by Scientifics and 4Rail to combat both exterior and interior train cleaning problems
The aim of EuroChemi is simple: to provide products that go further than just solving existing problems. It is able to do this as it benefits from extensive research and development, and its products aim to enhance performance, improve safety, and limit environmental damage.
After spending time speaking and listening to the rail industry, a range of products has been developed. The LocoWash product range provides non-aggressive and effective cleaning for all external areas of rail carriages and engines, with products suitable for both manual and automatic wash plant use. The newest product to the range is LocoWash 007, which is a highly-concentrated solution designed to remove all types of soiling from train exteriors and general interior surfaces. Once diluted to the required strength, LocoWash 007 is an effective mild alkali cleaner that does not corrode metals used in train exteriors and exteriors. The super concentrate comes in a 5l container, which can be added to 995 litres of water to make a ready-to-use solution; this ensures lower transportation costs and packaging waste.
LocoWash 304 is a product leader in the exterior train cleaning market offering enhanced cleaning performance with exceptional rinse-ability, providing a streak-free gloss finish. A special ingredient within the formulation provides a coating that helps to disperse water droplets, which eliminates water staining after drying. In addition to its excellent cleaning ability, LocoWash 304 is fully biodegradable and non-corrosive to all metals used in rail carriage and engine construction.
Acid washes are required to remove thoroughly ingrained dirt on train exteriors, but prolonged use can fade paint and there is sometimes a risk of corrosion. To combat this, Eurochemi developed LocoWash 181. It is a biodegradable soluble organic acid designed to remove iron deposits and rust stains generated by wheel, track and braking systems. It doesn’t crystallize and is non-corrosive – an important consideration.
For really difficult areas, LocoWash 208 is a ready-to-use formulation for manual application. Its viscous properties (viscosity @ 20°C is 300 - 500mPa s) allow longer contact time to remove iron stains from railway carriages and rolling stock. The product is applied with a brush and agitated before leaving for five - seven minutes and if necessary, agitation can be repeated. It then is rinsed thoroughly with water. This non-aggressive yet effective cleaning action enables operators to complete their cleaning schedules safely and effectively without any risks.
EuroChemi has also developed a technologically advanced defrosting agent, Arctic Melt. The all-in-one bio-degradable de-icing solution offers excellent adhesion to platforms, walkways and ramps with fast-acting, long-lasting performance at low temperatures (minus eight Celsius). Unlike traditional defrosting methods, such as rock salt, Arctic Melt is non-corrosive to metals and concrete. Artic Melt is an environmentally friendly, all-in-one de-icing solution, which does not contain any chlorides.
Also as part of the range, EuroChemi has developed internal train cleaners: Restorer Cleaner is a multi-purpose cleaner, polish and protector; Upholstery Cleaner for fabrics; and Glass Cleaner for windows and interior doors.
All EuroChemi products have been independently approved by Scientifics.
