Smoking out the villains

SmokeCloaks are designed to provide instant protection for all types of premises ranging from small server rooms to retail shops and even to large warehouses
The protection is achieved by filling a section, or the whole building with a non-toxic, non-contaminating white vapour in seconds and automatically maintaining this level as required. The vapour deprives the villain of his primary sense – his ability to see. It is terrifying and the deployment is exceedingly fast, driving the villain from the premises.
Originally designed for protecting premises during the night, the solution has now moved into daytime protection. A special range of SmokeCloaks has been developed as a result of violent attacks at Barclays Bank premises in the northwest of England; they have proved to be very successful, forcing even hardened armed criminals to flee the crime scene. Recently, two criminals brandishing a shotgun and a sledgehammer dropped their weapons and fled from the bank’s Culcheth branch in Manchester when a member of staff activated the revolutionary security solution and filled the room with thick artificial smoke.
Now SmokeCloak is being successfully deployed in the jewellery industry, as demonstrated in Winchester; three men burst into Jeremy France Jewellers, in Walcote Place, off the High Street, pointing guns at the five staff and four customers on the shop floor, and telling them to get down.
Owner Mr France and his wife, Sarah, were in the store’s office with four other staff members at the time. Mrs France said they heard the family’s Jack Russell, Daisy, who goes to work with them every day, barking. It was then that they activated SmokeCloak security devices, and the robbers fled as the shop filled with smoke. The terrifying drama was over in a matter of seconds.
Mrs France said the devices were installed just a few weeks after the shop was hit in a £250,000 raid last November. She said: “We heard the dog barking at them and that alerted us in the office and we hit the SmokeCloak button. We had it installed last year and it was fantastic. Within a split second the smoke filled the shop and as soon as they saw that they were gone.”
The shop was open for business as usual the next morning and Mr France was pleased to confirm that nothing had been stolen during the raid, thanks to the security measures. Only one window was broken. He said: “It operated perfectly and we’re very happy. All the staff are well; nobody was hurt. One or two were a little shaken, but are all in good spirits.”
