Aspin Group, encompassing Aspin Foundations, Aspin Consulting and Aspin Plant, are celebrating ten years in business.

Aspin would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients and suppliers for their support over the years as we proudly celebrate this important milestone. We look forward to a continued fruitful relationship.

Vibro-compaction New ‘track formation remediation’ technique
Vibro-compaction and displacement is a pioneering new method available to undertake track remediation works. This has many applications within the railway environment.

A major cause of poor ride quality and overall track quality deterioration resulting in significant remediation costs is the failure of the track formation and the incidence of ‘wet beds’. Historically the only remedy for these conditions that will give any longevity of track performance is the costly operation of complete renewal of the track formation and re-ballast of the track. These operations are extremely expensive and require a full possession of the track for some time, normally in the 24 to 36 hour range with the consequential excessive costs and timetable disruption to operations. It is with these criteria in mind that a non-disruptive vibro-displacement method has been developed, a technique which will significantly reduce costs whilst providing track stability to provide the track quality criteria required for the line speed expectations.

The vibro-compaction system that we have developed concentrates on a technique which:
  • Does not require a track possession in excess of the available Rules of the Route possessions
  • Is flexible in output and completion
  • Is cost efficient
  • Minimises waste and reuses materials wherever possible
  • Utilises existing machine and personnel resources to minimise training costs.
Aspin has developed a technique which incorporates the principles of vibro-compaction technology to increase the sub-grade stiffness. It has major advantages in soft ground conditions but can be applied in most soil conditions.

The basis of the technique is that the improvements to the subgrade will be produced by repeated applications of a machine-mounted vibrator poker which, when forced into the ground, will displace material into the surrounding ground.

This pioneering technique has many advantages both practically and commercially.

Aspin Plant focusing on clients and delivery
Aspin Plant continues to deliver an extensive range of services to our clients. The recent changes to the organisation structure have helped to enable the plant team to deliver more effectively whilst maintaining a healthy and steady growth.

Our extensive fleet of Road Rail Vehicles (RRVs), complemented by our unique and adapted vehicles, are deployed effectively across the UK to fulfil client requirements. Aspin offers a complete service for our clients and are able to work independently on the Network Rail infrastructure under our Plant Operators Licence.

Our new team of account managers deliver through innovative thinking, working with our clients, to fulfil their needs and further develop the working relationship.

FTN-GSMR – Leigh-on-Sea
Following the Aspin team’s recent successful design and installation of a 9m x 610mm diameter Aspin steel pin foundation solution for Lowery Limited at Leigh-on-Sea in Essex as part of the Fixed Telephone Network - GSMR project, we are looking forward to working with Lowery Limited further on the FTN-GSMR project.

Lowery Limited utilised the patented Aspin Steel Pin to erect a 20m GSM-R mast for Network Rail’s Train Driver to Signaller Radio communication. This is now fully installed and is in the process of being commissioned by Network Rail.
