The overall success of the event reflected the upbeat mood in an industry which is seeing substantial investment nationwide.
The number of visitors this year was up compared with the previous Infrarail in 2010 and rises to 5600 when exhibitors’ stand personnel are included. Visitors attended from some 36 countries.
Exhibitors at Infrarail 2012 totalled 212 – these included numerous leading established suppliers as well as many first-time exhibitors at the show, bringing innovation and new products to the rail market. Industry engagement with the event was strengthened by the support and presence of the Railway Industry Association and by the Rail Alliance networking organisation, which co-ordinated participation by a group of its members.
The Infrarail Awards dinner took place on the second day of the show. The Awards recognised significant achievements by exhibitors, and a panel of independent judges made awards in six categories:
- Newcomer to Infrarail: Wireless CCTV Ltd
- Award for Innovation: M J Quinn Integrated Services
- Signalling & Telecoms: SigAssure l Health & Safety: Prolec
- Plant & Equipment: GGR Rail l Judges Choice: Unipart Rail
Railtex 2013 will take place at Earls Court in London from 30 April to 2 May 2013
